ESM Global Enviornment Action Project

My enviornmental Science class did scientific research projects in the beginning of the year. One project someone did was on how wasteful our schools food service is. They looked at where we purchase the products, amount of waste produced and other factors that are having a negative impact on the environment. The second half of the year we are putting the project into action. I am proposing that my school which from, styrofoam to eco friendly corn based recyclable plates and bowls. Invest in reusable, washable silver wear apposed to plastic silverware. Also instead of purchasing products from all over the world we would buy locally, reducing waste produced and energy used while stimulating the local economy. We have met strong opposition from the powers at be but we plan to keep moving forward with our ideas to help reduce our schools ecological footprint.
