The Problem

I am trying to help the problem of homeless people and animals in shelters in my community. I am collecting handmade items and gently used clothes for shelters. My website as well as my facebook page offers details on my ongoing project http://fromewetoyou.webs.com/ http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/From-Ewe-to-You/302156539805?ref=ts

Plan of Action

I have contacted local shelters to find out their needs and created a website and facebook page to educate people about what is needed and how to donate.I have also included ideas for ways in which everyone can contribute. I have enlisted the help of local businesses to help spread the word as well as serve as donation drop off sites My school will also serve as a donation site. I have created a crochet night in which I work on crocheted blankets, mittens, scarves and hats with members of my family. My goals include going to senior centers and schools to teach simple crochet patterns so they can help make items. I would also like to donate blankets, chemo caps and bandannas to local hospitals.I believe people have been impacted by this cause as I have already received donations, help from businesses and letters of appreciation from the organizations I will be donating to.

Project Updates

Today we made our second donation to the Wake SPCA. We were able to provide many bags of dog food, toys, beds, and supplies for the workers. We visited some of the dogs in the shelter in need of families. We are continuing to educate the public about the needs of our local animal shelters through our website http://www.fromewetoyou.webs.com
We are still collecting donations at our donation drop off sites. If you are interested in helping, visit our website for further information as to what the shelters are in need of. We hope to reach many more community members and hope to make another donation in June. Remember to get out there and do something!

We were able to purchase four bags of yarn using some of our grant money. We also purchased bags of dog food and fabric for dog beds for the local SPCA.
Tomorrow will be our third donation to Wake Med Hospital. We have also started making chemo caps and bandanas for Wake Med. Collection drive is ongoing and doing well. We are planning our third donation drop off to The Healing Place next week.

On the third of March we made our first donation drop off to The Healing Place. We donated four bags worth of handcrafted items. On the sixth, our second donation was at the local SPCA.
