The Problem
In doing this project I believe not only would I be helping my community but also people all over the world. I want to put a stop to breast cancer one and for all. It’s a terrible disease and it needs to be stopped. I have seen so many people around me die or have to battle this disease. So that is why I decided I would host a fashion show and a silent auction that would benefit breast cancer and help for the hope to someday for a cure.
Plan of Action
I had to go through many steps. I did this on my own so at times it was very hard, but I knew I couldn’t give up, because not only would I be giving up on myself I would be giving up on everyone out there that is going through breast cancer or in any way know someone who is. I started out righting a plan and putting ideas. Then I went around to different function halls and told them my story and asked if they would donate a hall for this event. I heard many no’s until I hear my first yes and that was from Jimmy’s Allenhurst, in Danvers MA. I then went around to local business and asked if they would donate silent auction items for the event, many people said no but I had about 30 silent auction items donated and just from that I raised about $2000 dollars. I then went around to different clothing stores including one that I worked at to see if they would donate clothing for the fashion show to be worn during it. I once again heard many negative answers but I never gave up. I ended up with a boutique that I worked at named Infinity Skate Skins in Swampscott, MA, Arabella Lingerie in Marblehead, Ma, Cache Peabody, Ma, and The Ultimate, Peabody MA. Then after that I went around to different vendors and I had a DJ donate their time, a photographer, a news crew, and Comcast filmed my event. I had Bliss Hair Salon donate to have all the models hair done and the volunteers, and Luxe to do the makeup. The models also donated their time from John Casablanca’s and MTM agency in Newton, MA which is where I modeling when I was little. We had both freeze models and runways models. We had 6 female runway models and 6 male models and I also modeled in the even. I had many newspapers also cover my event.
