The Problem
Today 1.2 Billion people world wide are hungry! The global population is skyrocketing and people involved in agriculture production is decreasing. World hunger and global poverty are just two aspects of life without adequate agriculture education. This problem is becoming increasingly important to not only underdeveloped countries but domestically as well. "Feed by Seed" plans and executes international agriculture advocacy, fundraising, and development projects while placing special emphasis on agriculture education (a huge roadblock of underdeveloped countries to growing their own food and economies in a sustainable way). These are the beginning of stages of what will hopefully one day be a way for people in impoverished countries to produce their own sustainable food source.
Plan of Action
Feed by Seed's main mission is to: 1) provide immediate necessary food aid to those who are in critical need, 2) train quality agriculture educators on the importance of agriculture education and how to effectively facilitate the learning process for such, 3) deliver materials such as plant seeds, animal feed, irrigation and other agriculture materials needed to establish a productive, sustainable food system and while training the local people how to use agriculture to build their food supply and local economy.
We are making progress by developing and implementing agriculture-based cultural needs assessments, networking with other organizations and individuals who have a passion similar to Feed by Seeds, fundraising to allow for the transportation of more materials to Nicaragua (and other partnered countries) and more in-depth trainings for teachers on how to effectively facilitate agriculture education to youth and adults, and by developing lasting relationships founded on trust with community leaders in our project areas.
