Feed The Need & Heal The Heart
the problem:
Each and every year our students and faculty coordinate food drives and collect necessities for local shelters.
What makes our ongoing projects especially remarkable is that The Lowell School is a school for children with learning disablilities and special needs.
They know first hand about being bullied and feeling less than their peers. To date we have fed over 400 families in our surrounding communities. Our student population is of limited means themselves, and yet, they always find a way to give from what they have and not from their excess.
The students also volunteer at a nearby elementary school work with 1st and 2nd grade students.

people impacted:
500people involved:
400why it's important:
Our student government has designated our school a "Bully Free Zone" . They have bake sales to raise money for those in need. This year, they have decided to donate the money raised to The Smile Train. A program that allows doctors to travel to other countires to perform facial surgery on children.
They are also in the progress of planning our 7th Annual Diversity Celebration and Luncheon. This is a month long project in which the entire school and their families come together to celebrate our differences.
the plan of action:
Since the inception of our School Elections,Bully Free Zone, Diversity Celebration, and Feed The Need & Heal the Heart, our school has evolved into a place where compassion, tolerance, and understanding have truly found a home and taken root.
how you can get involved:
Come and visit and model what our children are actively doing and "Build Bridges Not Walls" in their schools.
It's one thing to talk about how schools should be.
We don't just "talk the talk" we "walk in their shoes" and then figure out how to make their journey easier.
