The Problem

As a result of losing my 16 yr. old in an auto accident, I cofounded Light beyond Loss, a non-profit organization that offers holistic, non-denominational grief services. We provide retreats, workshops, and education and referral services. Too many teens and youth experience divorce, incarceration of parents, death and or disease of a loved one or peer and have little support through their grief journey. Consequently youth may turn to risky and negative behaviors and activities because they feel alone and out of options. But through expressive arts workshops teens will find a safe and supportive venue to let out their feeling through the use of art and writing. The process is extremely healing and cathartic. My goal is to make available my expressive arts experience along with my experience in dealing with grief, to help students process their feeling and return to wholeness. I'd like to offer this at no charge

Plan of Action

1. I started a non profit, Light beyond Loss, I am now the Executive Director. 2. We offer weekend retreats for bereaved mother, women, men and families. 3. We offer a monthly grief support group at the local library. 4. My curriculum is written. " Finding Treasure Through a Sea of Loss" an expressive arts workshop 5. We already have our 501c3 4. I will present my curriculum/project to schools in connecticut to offer my four week workshop after school for students. www.lightbeyondloss.org www.solexpressions.org
