The Problem

Flamingnet Book Reviews (www.flamingnet.com) was created in 2002 by my father and me. When I was in fifth grade, I became a voracious reader.

Why It's Important

This led us to combine my reading with his hobby, computer programming. Gradually I wrote reviews on the books that I read, and my father posted these on the web. National publishers and authors of young adult literature, after seeing my reviews, began asking me to review their books. These publishers include Penguin Books, Scholastic, Random House, Simon & Schuster, Time Warner, and HarperCollins, as well as many other publishers and individual authors.

The Plan Of Action

As I received more books, I began to accept student reviewers from all over the United States to help with the reviews. Flamingnet is currently a growing young adult book website, and my father and I are kept very busy working with our Flamingnet online community. Additionally, I support young adult reading programs in needy libraries and other facilities with donations of books and monetary contributions generated from my web site.

Project Updates

Update: 4/3/08-Working closely with hospitals, clinics, individual doctors and community members, Robert and his group have been able to provide seven free or low-cost surgeries, health screening and treatment for nearly 150 people, vision screening for dozens or people and over twenty pairs of glasses. The centre also has begun literacy classes teaching women in the community to read and write in Marathi and Hindi, and in next month will be adding health education to their syllabus.

Hi !!
I wish the best for Mr Seth Cassel .

May I introduce Mr Seth Cassel in my weblog, and write about his great works for teens and my friends?

I am 11 years old, blogger.

Thanks!!

I want to thank Dosomething.com for selecting me for a Plum Grant award. It will be used to spread the word about Flamingnet.com to junior high school and high school libraries.

I also want to thank Raman for the nice words. Please feel free to write about my website. Maybe you know someone who would like to become a Flamingnet student reviewer?

Seth

There are a lot of sites out there showing book video. BookVideoTV, BookTelevision and of course CSPAN, but I like how BN.com and Reader's Entertainment TV have specific genre channels and original shows. There's just more to see and I can be specific in what genre I'm interested in. Anyone else watch online tv?
