The Problem
The student’s brainstormed some ideas that could help the families at the shelter. Most of the students talked about personal hygiene and how expensive it can be. We came up with the idea to create toiletry baskets with the essential things a person needs every day. We asked the teachers to donate as well as the students. We were able to give each family all the toiletry products they would need for a month along with books for the children. We would love to have a supply of items so that we don’t have to always ask our families, who in this economic time have a hard time making ends meet. We have established a great relationship with Saint Ambrose and we want to be able to continue to help them in the future.
Plan of Action
Our plan of action was to provide the families at Saint Ambrose with some much needed toiletry supplies. A letter went out to each of the grades in the school asking them for a particular item (Toothbrushes, toothpaste etc.) The response was so great that every family received a full basket of supplies that should last them about a month. We feel the impact we made on the lives of the woman were amazing. This is a quote from one of the many cards we received "Thank you so very much, that gift was one of the best we have ever received everything we got from you is exactly what we needed. You have helped us more than you could ever know".
