The Problem

The basis of Food Not Bombs is to demonstrate how many mouths can be fed with the amount of money it takes to build a bomb for war. While making an impact on the local homeless population's hunger issues, we are also making a non-violent and legal anti-war statement.

Plan of Action

I first became involved with Food Not Bombs through a friend of mine. We were invited by her classmate to join him at a meeting regarding feeding the homeless, and were intrigued by the idea and excited to get started. Every week, we gather food through donations or purchases, and prepare and serve a hot, home-cooked meal consisting of vegetarian or vegan dishes to those who would not ordinarily receive one. Making the food is fun, and learning about the people we serve on an individual level is interesting and enjoyable as well.
