Food Not Bombs Whittier

I organized a Whittier Food Not Bombs that specifically helps the homeless and poverty stricken families in the city of Whittier. Each Sunday, a group of people get together to make and serve food at the local Whittier park. Each Sunday that passes, more and more people attend the serving and express their thanks for our understanding and commitment. The bonds we have created with the people we serve, are long lasting and dismantle homeless discrimination and prejudice. To raise awareness to the issue as well as recruit more volunteers, we held several benefit shows to bring in people from all over Whittier and the surrounding cities to inform them about the poverty and homeless discrimination issues within the city. In addition to benefit shows, and actually starting the Food Not Bombs, we advertised using fliers, MySpace, Facebook, and other means to raise awareness of the issue.
