Foodball is a yearly fundraiser at Aberdeen High School in which I attend and am Senior class President. Students get together for 10 days to raise as much money and food donations as possible, by putting on events. Everything is done by students! From planning the events to actually working them. We take over our local McDonalds and work behind the counters. We host dodgeball tournaments and stand outside the doors of Safeway. Thes are just a few of our events. We make it a competition between out rival high school across town. The 10 days is full of fun, and tiresome nights trying to collect the most money and food. At the end of the 10 day period, both Aberdeen High School, and our rival school have a "Weigh-in" where we count the money and weigh the food. The school that has the most, wins! Then, all of the donations from both schools is given to the local Foodbanks just before Thanksgiving, where it is distributed to local community members in need. Neither school is awarded anything in the end, except the pride of what they have done for their community, which makes all the hard work so worth it.
