The Problem

I want to help bring back confidence and security to the broken lives of foster childern in Rochester, ny. There is so much violence and hurt habored in them and Hillside along with the Urban League of Rochester has been creating programs around the city to help them. They have also raised the awareness of the condition of many foster children through community awareness announcements and local commercials.

Why It's Important

This is important to me for two reasons; my mother is a licensed foster parent and I see first hand on a day to day bases how it is for my foster brothers and sisters to adapt to a new home, and to let go off some hurt or past that they can't forget or they never had the chance to remember. My project is aiming to help foster children, ages 9-19, take a different look at their situation and really study their part. Through classes, shut-ins, and one on one sessions, among other vices, my organization will address these issues.

The Plan Of Action

I plan on getting in contact with the major agencies for foster children in Rochester. The two main agencies, Urban League and Hillside, will be the top on my list and I plan on receiving most of my assistance from them on this program. Also, this project will be non-profit so it will go over well with the agencies in terms of any economic restraints.

How Can Others Get Involved?

Others can help by providing themselves as mentors or setting up a relationship whwere trust is key and can aid in the trust building in foster children.
