Vital Stats

See It

This organization is a camp that is for children ages 7 to 17 that are disabled. For one week during the summer, these children have the opportunity to come to the camp and be normal kids. Activities that are done range from horseback riding to canoing and campfires. There are eight sessions and the children that attend have conditions such as AIDS, diabetes, Tourette's, autism, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, and Down's Syndrome. These kids truly have the time of their lives. The grounds that the camp is on is called Camp Flying Eagle, however the camp has the possibility of being sold. The Boy Scouts that own the land may be selling the property to a company that plans to build condos. Foundation for Dreams does not have enough money to buy the land itself, but they are looking into it. If this camp get sold, these children will lose an important part of their summers. Not only does Foundation for Dreams offer these children a week of camp in the summer, but there are also various weekend camps available. Dream Oaks Camp is already an existing camp, but they are desperately in need of money. There are only four cabins that can be used and the dining hall and swimming pool is shared with the Boy Scouts. This camp is the only camp for children with disabilities located in Florida and campers come from cities all over the state such as Jacksonville and Fort Myers. After one session, about 80% of the campers return for other sessions. The children truly love Dream Oaks Camp and the memories they create there are unlike any other. If this camp gets sold it will truly be a loss to the community. Please help Foundation for Dreams and Dream Oaks Camp stay alive!
