The Problem

Our mission to "Strenghten Families" consists of offering free, environmental and educational activities to our community. Silverton Together, in collaboration with the Izaak Walton League, the Silverton Kiwanis Club, the Department of Fish and Wildlife, the Silverton Lions Club, the Silverton Volunteer Fire Department, and the City of Silverton, hosts a Free Fish Day, where children, families and volunteers from the community come together each June at the Silverton Reservoir for a day of trout fishing and fun. Fishing supplies and bait are provided. The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife stocks the reservoir with fish. Snacks are on hand to feed hungry anglers. Fun is had by all! However, we aim to offer this to a broader whole and need assistance in our draw area. We feel that by offering a fun competition, which can be had by all will do the trick! Dad's love it and it will help bring the whole family together in this event. Having incentives (prizes) will be our goal.

Plan of Action

Silverton Together is already committed to offering drug free activities which include the holiday celebration, celebration of cultures, the community picnic and the free fish day. We would like to draw more from our community to these events, but at this time will focus on "Free Fish Day". It is hosted soley by volunteers and community members, but it unfunded. We will continue but want to improve our event by drawing a larger whole with incentives to help motivate them to come.
