Freedom Dogs help Troops with PTSD
Check out our videos!
the problem:
Many of our troops coming back from war in Iraq and Afghanistan are struggling with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI). There seems to be not enough being done to help them through this. Freedom Dogs is a non profit that trains service dogs to pair with troops in need and help them through their dark times.
vital stats:
people impacted:
10,000people involved:
100why it's important:
The month I shot the video, more troops committed suicide than were killed in Iraq and Afghanistan combined. I've seen how these dogs are helping troops on the brink of suicided. It's important for me to raise awareness about PTSD and subsequently help raise funds so more troops can have access to a Freedom Dog.
the plan of action:
I've done 2 videos so far for Freedom Dogs and my big plan is to eventually do a documentary on the troops with PTSD to show people what they really go through and how dogs are really saving lives. I'm a board member for the San Diego based non profit and will continue volunteering my time and efforts.
how you can get involved:
Go to www.freedomdogs.org for more information on helping out or of course to donate. All money goes right to the troops and the training of the dogs. Right now a grant would be great to help make more videos.
