The Problem

Gecko Hunger Help wants to give relief to starving thrid world countries. Toledo has a a very high poverty level. Click the link for some statistics. http://www.city-data.com/poverty/poverty-Toledo-Ohio.html Gecko Hunger HElp plans to get Toledo ZOOTeens in with to help fight world hunger with the Cherry Street Mission. In 2008 they served 240,309 meals and sheltered an average of 203 men and women every night, an increase of 28% and 51% respectively from 2006.

Plan of Action

At this point we have held a 30 hour famine to get a feel for what world hunger feels like. We are intending to get the Toledo ZOOTeens to volunteer with the Cherry Street Mission in March. Also, to try and have a global effect, we are sponsoring a child. Other projects we are looking at are The Great American Bake Sale and are looking into working with 'From Hunger To Hope: Hunger Relief Community'
