Gender Warriors

Gender Warriors works with area professionals that work with transgender clients, primarily counselors and medical offices, to allow for trans-friendly environments to grow and increase. We are looking into getting certified to offer our own continuing education units (CEUs), primarily within the social work and psychology realm, to increase our impact and draw in more professionals. In the past year, we have engaged varying audiences in less formal panel discussions of a variety of issues circling gender identities. In collaboration with area diversity groups, colleges, counseling centers, etc, we have been able to educate and advocate on behalf of ourselves and our community. Topics of discussion ranged from our personal narratives, tips for those who work with trans* persons, general 101s for the varying communities, as well as advanced advocacy workshops. In addition, Gender Warriors has general meetings every other week, in order to foster bonds among transgender individuals that might not otherwise have an adequate social support system.
