See It

Generation 119:9 was created in September of 2007 to reach the 6,512 kids betweens the ages of preschool and 12th grade in the Braidwood, Coal City, and Wilmington school districts. The kids have a lot of idle time and that turns into drug and alchohol abuse. They have belonging issues and pain. They try to cover their pain with band aids and this just causes more pain for them. Generation 119:9 is dedicated to reaching those kids by giving them fun and exciting things to do. Generation 119:9 is dedicated to teaching the kids about God's love and helping them to overcome their pain. Generation 119:9 is dedicated to building future leaders and to building kids with service oriented hearts. We already have a group of High School students who are meeting once a month at the local nursing home. In september our teenage program started with a Dodgeball League. The Dodgeball league drew in about 70 teens. Each night the kids would play several games of dodgeball and in the middle of the night, there was a talk that was designed to help teens overcome the pain in their lives and to help them make better decisions. I had several conversations with teens in tears and I saw several teens change over the course of 3 months. In January our teenage program started a Paintball League on Saturdays and Dinner and a Movie on Sundays. That is currently going on now. Our Kids programs started up in January with an Art Club, Drama Club, and Basketball Club. After 3 weeks we already have 65 kids registered and we have averaged 50 kids a week. This is proving to be a success and we are currently planning our next 10 week session of clubs.
