The Problem
Educating the youth, not only here in America, but in the entire world. I chose to volunteer in Costa Rica because the country is an important developing country that is rapidly developing and making its way into the First World. The children here are much less fortunate when it comes to education as those in here in U.S., and by helping them learn English I know I have helped guide them toward a path they might otherwise not have seen. By targeting the youth in developing countries, we will be able to instill the resources and education necessary to grant the power to these individuals to make a difference in their country one day and work to bring them up to par with more developed countries, such as the U.S. There is no better feeling in the world than knowing that you have made a difference in the lives of a few children, which may result in drastic, positive changes on the global stage.
Plan of Action
Since I am still currently in school, it is difficult to find the time to travel to other countries, or even within this one, to continue with my English teacher campaign. But this does not mean I will lose focus on these causes. I intend to educate in another way at my university, by teaching my experience to my friends and peers in an attempt to get more of them involved. I would like to help them realize the impact each and every one of us can have on the future, and the importance of doing so. Ultimately, I would like to create a student organization that is wholly dedicated to educating the youth of today, in the United States and in other countries, pressing upon them the issues of today that are destroying our beautiful planet. I hope that I will be able to garner the support my peers and raise money from those who care, so that we may set out to educate those who hold the future of our world in their hands.
