The Problem

I grew up in rural country Ohio. Where I lived you could find a large park every two miles. The parks were used a ways to save precious farm land from being turned into house development. The community did not want white boxes making the beautiful landscape ugly. The parks had playgrounds, basketball courts and trials for walking or riding bikes. It gave the kids and my self something healthy and fun to do. It was safe too. I was the fastest kid my in school. If it were not for these parks that kept me in shape then, I would of been overweight and not of been able to fulfilled my athletic potentials. My family moved to Michigan, in an area where there wee no parks and where outdoor life was nor prevalent. We all gained weight. We did play outside anymore. The only time we would live the front door was for school or shopping. Life is boring because there is nothing to do. If my family had a park near where we live, we would not be over weight and bored. My hyper little brother could release a lot of extra energy. I miss the sunshine. There is no where for the kids in my community to play, unless they go to park more than ten miles away! It is a boring little town that needs some excitement. We have had neighbors for years, but do not socialize with them. Not because we do not like them, but because we do not see them! A park would bring the community together. People could make new friends and get healthy together. Our city needs to have a park. It could be developed from unused land. It should be within walking or close driving distance so that it would be the neighborhood park. I could write to the mayor. It would be a worth while project.
