The Problem

I am trying to bring awareness to and advocacy for people with intellectual disabilities. People with intellectual disabilites can succeed in many things if they are given the opportunity. I know that often people with intellectual disabilties are discriminated against and I want to make a change in my community and the world. I have Down syndrome and I have already accomplished many things in my life. I go to college at George Mason University, I live in a dorm on campus, I vote and I speak out for my rights and the rights of others. I believe all people with intellectual disabilities should be given the respect and opportunities that they deserve.

Plan of Action

I have testified to the Virginia legislators, have met with Senators and Congressmen in Washington, D.C. and spoken at many public events. I will continue to advocate for people with intellectual disabilities. It's about DIGNITY! I will continue speaking out for respect and help to empower other people with intellectual disabilities to speak out for themselves.
