The Problem

The mission of the Global Ambassadors program is to contribute to the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals. The 2015 deadline is rapidly approaching, and while a lot of progress has indeed been made, we have not yet completed our task. Even the smallest contributions make a difference in many lives, and have a positive impact; every library or fresh water facility that is constructed is another step toward a peaceful world. Our purpose is to contribute to the Millennium Development Goals and to do what we can to make a difference.

Plan of Action

I will continue acting as an active participant and leader of the Global Ambassadors Program as an 8th grader. As I move into the 9th grade in High School I will become a member of Global Ambassadors INTERACT, which is an advanced level of Global Ambassadors. This will enable me to continue helping to achieve the Millennium Development Goals but also work in my community on local issues in collaboration with Rotarians. I am fortunate to participate in a long term program such as GAIN which is all about raising awareness and taking action, small or big, to make a difference. We believe that every person can make a difference and has the potential to be a hero and that even the smallest actions of kindness can cause a positive ripple in the world. The Global Ambassadors Program sponsors projects that support the Millennium Development Goals, such as Global Run http://web.mac.com/nimajneb3/globalrun/humanitarian.html , Fashion for a Cause , Passion for Peace ,Library Book Drives that support literacy both local and global, the It’s True News series, Passion for Peace and the Model UN program . See our Virtual library http://ensemble.lhric.org/ensemble/app/sites/Z_1TnK0u2kyRg2wcIf_zIA.aspx for our video collection. Through these projects and events, we have raised a lot of awareness locally as well as globally, built libraries and water purification facilities in Kenya, ¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬We have also made many young people aware of the vitality of the Millennium Development Goals and inspired them to take action by planted seeds of compassion and empathy in their minds. We work with organizations such as Rotary, http://hallmonitor.lohudblogs.com/2009/02/06/white-plains-interact-club-out-to-make-the-world-a-better-place-%E2%80%94%C2%A0through-fashion/ the Shinnyo-en Foundation http://www.sef.org/2010/11/eastview-middle-school-opens-new-digital-media-lab/ and the United Nations http://www.un.org/works/sub3.asp?lang=en&id=131 , who are willing to sponsor and assist us in our mission, as we aid them with theirs.
