The Problem

Citrus County is not a very environmentally aware community. It may not be a huge problem to some people, but Lecanto High School is trying to change their habits & thoughts by setting the bar for Going Green by recycling, using less harmful cleaning products, carpooling, and many other great ways to save our planet.

Plan of Action

My yearbook adviser, Mrs. Sylvester, has been the starter of this project, but she hopes to let the students and parents take charge once we feel comfortable with all of it. So far it has only been about three weeks, but the impact is good. We have begun the recycling process, and many people are getting involved with the idea of a earth friendly school. More specifically, the volleyball coach has been on board since day one. She makes sure that the athletes pick up empty plastic bottles in the gym and put them in the correct recycling container. Thus, many athletes have been exposed to the good habits.
