The Problem

We are trying to solve the energy crisis which has overtaken our nation. People are ignorant of the amount of energy they waste, and Project Greenlight is about educating and informing people about saving energy and to provide LEDs and CFLs to organizations and individuals who have not make the transition to sustainable energy. So much money and energy is saved when LEDs and CFLs are used instead of incandescent light bulbs. LED bulbs last up to 10 times as long as compact fluorescents, and far longer than typical incandescents. In addition, although LEDs are expensive, the cost is recouped over time and in battery savings. CFLs are four times more efficient and last up to 10 times longer than incandescent and Replacing a single incandescent bulb with a CFL will keep a half-ton of CO2 out of the atmosphere over the life of the bulb. It is so easy to change light bulbs and the impact of the use of these bulbs is astronomical.

Plan of Action

our plan of action is to begin by spreading information about our project. A way we would like to do this is by selling Project GreenLight bracelets. By word of mouth and these bright green bracelets, we hope to get people involved in the club. Next, we will contact organizations like Habitat for Humanity and churches that sponsor mission trips which involve building houses and developing towns in third world countries. With the money we raise, we plan to buy CFLs and LEDs and donate them to these organizations, so they can save money and conserve energy.
