The Problem
The problem we are trying to solve at Pineville Junior High is the amount of waste our school produces by developing a recycling program for our school therefore becoming a more eco-friendly school. Our project will first provide Pineville Junior High with recycling bins in every classroom, with a bigger plan to expand the awareness toward more schools in the parish. Hopefully this will inspire the rest of the state of Louisiana to enlarge a the state wide recycling program. I want the recycling program at Pineville Junior High to widen to the rest of the parish because our community has a very small recycling program that many people are unaware of. We would like to enlarge the knowledge of recycling in our area and state in hopes to become much more earth friendly.
Plan of Action
Our plan of action for the recycling program at Pineville Junior High is simple, start with one bin in every classroom and label it “cans”. Then, once we have the funds, would like to move toward putting a recycling bin labeled “paper” in a every classroom. Then, once a week or so, we will have our local recycling center come and retrieve the recyclable goods. Then, after the program has launched at our school , we plan to move to the rest of our parish and start a parish wide recycling program. Our long term project though is to move to the whole state for every city/ parish that does not have a recycling program and make sure the do.
