The Problem

Lets face it: teenagers and young adults get chills down their spines when they hear the word volunteer. This negative association with the word volunteer needs to be changed and re-vamped. People are no longer inspired to donate their time to volunteering because of the "go go go" attitude of our society. I want to show everyone what volunteering is really about. People want to see what is in it for them now days, and I plan on showing them just that. The problems I am trying to solve: - negative connotation toward volunteering - replace apathy with urgency - shed light on the idea of giving - show people what is in it for them

Plan of Action

In a nutshell: For the next (8 Months) I will work with (8 Charities) Volunteering (8% of my time) Donating (8% of my income) I will video blog about my experience on my website and also on other sources of media such as Facebook, YouTube, Twitter etc. This will give viewers and subscribers an inside look at volunteering, what it does for the community, who it affects and what they can get out of it. I will blog about my experience and interview important people in each charity. I will get the viral community involved by inviting them to donate to each of these charities, show them how and where they can get involved and use them as sources for new charity ideas. My goal is to use mass media in a positive way, help influence my generation and get those involved that want to be involved.
