GREEK 12 Most people associate “Animal House, Revenge of the Nerds, and Old School” with the negative aspect of Greek Life. This stereotypical view of Greek Life is just a fraction of what Greek Life really entails. Greek 12’s mission is to erase the negative portrayal that Greek life has endeavored, and turn it around so people have a positive outlook on Greek Life. The constructive service and support that Greek Life offers, creates a more enjoyable atmosphere within the community. Individuals that are apart of Greek Life go above and beyond what is expected of them. Members contribute over 10 million community service hours across the nation every year. People that are in Greek Life have a better chance of graduating on time and with a higher GPA than the average student. Many prestigious people have been involved with Greek Life including 48% of all U.S. presidents and 30% of all Fortune 500 executives. These are just a few examples of how Greek life has influenced society since its inception. Greek 12, in its inaugural year, is producing a calendar that is unlike the typical calendar that focuses on the hottest men and women in America. Greek 12’s calendar portrays classy individuality of fraternities and sororities in which each month has a unique style and theme. Their first calendar focuses solely on ASU students, but the following one will expand to students of all three universities in Arizona. Greek 12’s calendar isn’t a bunch of half-naked models that can put on a fake smile like we often see in calendars. Instead, Greek 12 visits the schools and hand picks the models based on personality, looks, and academic and career achievements. The free calendar will be available on ASU’s campus in August, so be on the look out because this is something you don’t want to miss! Greek 12 has done an abundant amount of activities that benefit the community. They are donating more than 20,000 dollars to the national charities, and doing community service to support and improve the nation. They also have a lot of fun hosting promotional events to raise money for charities. There are numerous positive influences that Greek 12 is striving to accomplish, so keep your eyes peeled for more events and information which you can view on our Website. The calendar itself is a tool to reach out to the community and businesses, while promoting their website, Greek12.com. The website displays every house’s contributions to the community by posting photos, articles, updates on current events, and community service projects. This allows the non-Greek community to observe inside the lifestyle, and obtain information on how to get involved with Greek Life. It is an ongoing challenge, but with the help from others we will succeed in everything we have set out to achieve.
