The Problem

I have organized this project because of global warming and my passion in preventing environmental disaster. There are some cities who are extremely devoted to environmental sustainability and then there are those cities who are ignorant. Growing up, I remember ALWAYS learning about the earth and nature. I remember the several trips a year we took to our local farm to learn about compost bins and gardens and now lately as I talk to children of an elementary school age it seems as if they aren't learning enough about the environment. It seems awkward to me that during this time of environmental crisis that children are not learning all that they can about sustaining the environment.

Plan of Action

I have collaborated with a program called the Green Flame Program to visit local elementary schools and introduce the green movement to the students. We have started teaching them how to plant trees and have begun the hands-on experience by letting them plant the trees themselves. Hopefully, if we make an impact at such a young age they will grow up to be environmentally conscious which will be a step in decreasing the negative impacts on our mother earth.
