The Problem

For the past four summers I have taken a week out of my break and went to a different poverty stricken community all over the country in order to help. Along with other members of my church, and others from all over the country we work together to fix the houses of those who can not afford to, or are physically unable to do so themselves.

Plan of Action

During the year building up to the day we leave I must raise more then $300 to attend this trip. To do so I have bake sales, ask for my community's help, car washes, and also many other fundraisers. Also I must purchase a certain list of my own tools to take with me. Not only do I make an impact on those whose homes I fix, but also those in my own community. I have had neighbors come and tell me that thanks to seeing what I do each summer they donated more and also volunteer more frequently. And for those whose homes I do fix, at the last day when they see their newly improved homes, I know I have impacted them from the look on their faces. It is the most beautiful experience that not many people have had, and I wish it was more well known so others could.
