why it's important:

The Habitat For Humanity was created to help families who are house broken. Either they have lost their home through disaster or they are just financially unstable. This is a non-profit organization who receives all the expenses through donations, loans, or fundraisers. Volunteers from all over come to assist in every step of the building process.

the plan of action:

When I first arrived at the building site, I first noticed the huge amount of people who had also come to help that morning. Once I signed in, I was immediately assigned to a home. Most of the carpentry work had already been handled by the men, so the leader assigned the younger workers such as myself to paint all the rooms and fill all the empty spaces with caulk. By the end of the day, I was able to meet the family of the house we were building. He was so grateful for all the work we did, even though it was simply just painting. He told me himself that he was amazed by our willingness to give up a Saturday morning to help with his soon to be home. Just knowing that he was thankful for my help and that his home was ready waiting for him was good enough for me.

how you can get involved:

This organization is always open for anyone and everyone willing to take a part in the projects. Go check out the website and find out about the next date you can sign up for. If you are not able to make any of the dates, but still would like to help out, donations are always accepted.
