When I first arrived at the building site, I first noticed the huge amount of people who had also come to help that morning. Once I signed in, I was immediately assigned to a home. Most of the carpentry work had already been handled by the men, so the leader assigned the younger workers such as myself to paint all the rooms and fill all the empty spaces with caulk. By the end of the day, I was able to meet the family of the house we were building. He was so grateful for all the work we did, even though it was simply just painting. He told me himself that he was amazed by our willingness to give up a Saturday morning to help with his soon to be home. Just knowing that he was thankful for my help and that his home was ready waiting for him was good enough for me.
