The Problem

Many children are stuck in hospitals on their favorite holidays, without the excitement of toys and candy like their friends.

Plan of Action

In the past years, I've asked my friends and peers to donate money (I get anywhere from $0.50 to $40) so that I can bring play-doh to kids who can't have candy on Halloween. Play-don, I believe, is like joy in a jar, and I'm always excited to bring it to the hospital. Each year, in addition to the play-doh, we have enough money for flowers, card games, stickers, or coloring books too. Each person who donates money gets to write their name on a tag to be attached to each jar of play-doh, so that the kids know exactly who their gift is coming from! Each year, the weekend before Halloween I take a trip to the local hospital with the loot in tow, ready to hand out to the children who will be there on Halloween, and the hospital keeps the rest for other kids who need the fun energy to get well again.
