The Problem

Hands on Oshkosh is a day of volunteering event open to the UW-Oshkosh community. The goal is to help agencies in the community accomplish their goals through our volunteers. The event is designed as an opportunity for students, faculty, and staff to go into the greater Oshkosh community and provide service to agencies. Some of the agencies involved include: Domestic abuse housing, animal shelters, elementary and middle schools, elderly housing, and environmental agencies. There various issues involved. A few examples are poverty, abuse, and environmental issues.

Plan of Action

Due to limited funds, we do not have enough money budgeted to increase our volunteer numbers. We have a cut off at around 300-325 volunteers due to this budget deficiency. We would love to increase the program another 100+ people to involve many more students on campus in volunteering and the community. By increasing the registration to 400 volunteers, we would gain 300 more volunteer hours in the day of the event alone. This would help the agencies in our community greatly.
