The Problem

In my own community, I found a particular need for “Happy Kits” at Primary Children’s Medical Center. Through research, I realized that while children stay at Primary Children’s Center, they are consistently receiving medical and physical care. This discovery thrilled me and I found passion in helping children and their families. I realized that there was a great need for activities that would stimulate the children’s brains while receiving treatment in the hospital. Through many generous donations and putting together various resources, I was able to create 350 craft and brain activity kits that were donated to children in need to allow them to feel happy, enjoyment, and an activity to distract their minds from their daily treatments.

Plan of Action

First, I set a goal of 50 kits. I knew I needed help of others to make this goal of mine come true. Second, I send out flyers to my neighbors and members of my community asking for donations for these kits. Third, I collected these donations along with putting together the kits. By passing out more and more flyers and to my surprise, I was able to put together 350 kits, more than I would have ever dreamed. I was so humbled by the generosity of others and their willingness to help my dream become a reality. This small project helped me to realize that anyone can make a difference with a small amount. I know as a fact that I helped 350 kids feel relief and happiness, and that for me was enough to realize the impact that I made.
