Help End Dementia
the problem:
I am trying to solve the problem of the many people in our world suffering from many forms of Dementia. Although there is no cure for Dementia at this time, stem cell research is going on, and could possibly one day make a break through with a cure. I am helping to raise money for stem cell research, and to raise awareness on this type of illness and what we can do to help those who are suffering from it.

This is important to me for many reasons. Helping the elderly and those who suffer from types of Dementia has always been something I've been exposed to. My grandfather currently suffers from Dementia. Spending time with him and seeing him suffer the way he does makes me want to stop this illness. Most importantly, I want to stop the suffering. People suffer when they could one day possibly be living healthy lives. I want to help put a stop to this terrible illness and all the suffering it comes with.
the plan of action:
I am a big user of Facebook, so I set up a cause through this called "Help End Dementia." I invited all of my Facebook friends and encouraged them to invite their friends. Over the 6 months the cause has grown larger, with almost 1,000 members. I've also encouraged people to donate money, which all goes to the International Society for Stem Cell Research. So far only $130 has been donated. However, I have taken action such as fundraising pledges, fundraising goals, and time spans of raising money. I hope to soon raise more awareness and money by having a Dementia walk, and possibly having shirts made, with all of the proceeds to go to the International Society for Stem Cell Research. I would also like to expand the cause to others who aren't on Facebook. With sufficient funds, a website for Help End Dementia could be created and awareness of this illness and my cause would raise.
how you can get involved:
Others can help in many ways. First off, they can join the cause. They can invite their friends to join the cause as well. Second, people can donate money towards this cause. The minimum donation per person is $10. If everyone in the cause donated $10, a lot of money could be raised towards the International Society for Stem Cell Research. My cause also needs ideas. People should give their input on ideas to raise money, and to spread awareness on the cause and subject of Dementia. Every little bit helps!
