Helping Hands for Haiti

With the recent tragedy in Haiti I thought it would be very meaningful and important to host a large scale benefit and silent auction to raise funds to help repair the devestation Haiti. will benefit Partners in Health and the Haitian Sustainable Development Foundation. The Haitian Sustainable Development Foundation is an umbrella organization of various charities aimed at helping Haiti. In the past they have focused on improving the country’s economic development in addition to the social and political welfare of the Haitian people. During this time of need the organization is focused on repairing the damage caused by the terrible earthquake in areas that are yet to receive UN or Red Cross aid. Partners in Health also has a long history of providing aid to the Haitian people and now needs help to provide medical care to those hurt by the recent earthquake. I hope that through my project I can support aiding countries in need and giving the people of impoverished countries the resources necessary for them to be successful healthy and happy. I hope that my event will bring awareness to the hardships the people of Haiti are experiencing. It is striking to me that in California where we have had earthquakes of the same magnitude as the one in Haiti there are a fraction of the deaths and I hope that by completing my event people will realize terrible things that can come from such a disparity of wealth.
