The problem that I am trying to solve is hunger in the local area, and I am hoping to help the communities of Green Bay, Neenah, and Oshkosh. My plan was to raise awareness of hunger and get 3 petitions signed, one from each city, and present them to Wisconsin’s government to see if a statewide hunger fund could be started if it isn’t already. I mean, the number of people who die from hunger every 3 and ½ days is the same number as how many people died when the atom bomb was dropped on Hiroshima during WWII. Also, 13 million children got to bed hungry every day in the U.S. And to add to that, 1 out of 4 seniors has an inadequate diet. If that still doesn’t convince you that hunger is a problem, listen to this fact: every year 6 million children won’t live to see 6 years old as a result of hunger. You may be wondering why I’m the right person to try and stop this problem, and it’s because I have heard about hunger and after seeing the facts, it’s frightening. Being a little bit hungry, like 12 hours without food is not pleasant, but some people go over a day without food, and that’s just not right. Every 5 seconds a child is dying from hunger, and this is on a world-wide scale. No one should have to go hungry. Every single person in the world deserves to have food, no matter how they’re dressed, or how poor they are, or what religion they come from. So that’s why I want to put a stop to this.
