The Problem

We know first hand what it's like to go into receive chemotherapy for an entire day. The day is long and boring. So we decided to bring fun toys to the children at Dells Children's Hospital who are undergoing chemotherapy treatment! Not only do the children become bored, but so do their little brothers and sisters, and let's not speak of their parents as well! By bringing in toys such as puzzles, coloring books, and other activities we hoped to make everyone's experience a better one.

Plan of Action

Our plan of action was to have a car wash to be able to gather enough funds to be able to buy some really nice toys. We got into contact with a Firestone near our home, and they agreed to allow us to have the car wash at their location. They were great! We were able to raise enough to buy loads of toys for the children. Then I contacted Dells Children's to schedule a date, and know the age range of the children. They were great as well and were very enthused to have us on board!

Project Updates

This project was a success! We were able to raise $167 dollars from the car wash we held, and buy some great toys for the children at the oncology clinic.
First we were taken through the rooms were the children were, and deliver toys to them. Then, we made it to the child life play space. Before we could even place the toys on the table, the children were already digging through the bags to find themselves a nice toy! It was a wonderful experience, and you could see the children's faces light up as they heard that they were allowed to receive one toy.
This project was all about helping the children and their families feel happier when at the oncology clinic. It was important for us to have them feel happy and relieved, because these children and their families go through a lot during treatment.
We were extremely happy to be able to deliver a moment of happiness and delight to these children! :)
