The Problem

There were a lot of students in my school who wanted to become involved in some type of activity but could not find a club or sport that fit their interests. I wanted to start some type of club or team for students who did not fit the mold of alternative activities. I decided that dance was a fairly popular activity that many of my friends and other students in the school would be interested in. I asked one of my teachers if she would be interested in advising the team and she agreed. I wrote a letter to the administration explaining the team I wanted to start, how would I go about starting the team, and assuring them that there would be plenty of students interested. They gave me permission to start my team and I did. I held auditions in my school cafeteria and picked a team of students. In the 2006-2007 school year we performed at pep rallies, basketball game half times, and at the new jersey student council meeting at six flags. Many of the students on the team graduated last year so I had to develop almost an entirely new team. This year we performed at pep rallies, basketball games, and were even invited to dance at the semi-pro Jersey Express basketball game. This team is something I take great pride in and I am happy to know that I created a club and team where students who could not find a club that they fit in belong.
