Hello, my name is Janice Redmond I am the founder/president of a program called Hip Hop-Ercise. Hip Hop ercise is a nonprofit community based organization that focuses on preventative health care measures for inner city youth between the ages of 4-18 years old. the objectives of our physical fitness and nutrition programs is to be a catalyst to inform parents and youth about developed healthy eating habits, proper diet and the health problems that obesity are causing young people. Here at Hip Hop-ercise we collaborate with health care agency to obtain referrals of youth who are obese or in need of exercise and nutrition programs.
Obesity is an epidemic and at Hip Hop- Ercise we have a juice bar where they are taught to juice and make smoothies in alternative to ice cream. The youth at Hip Hop- ercise the program will provide a variety of physical fitness and nutrition classes and activities for youth between the ages of 4-18 years old. The physical classes will provide Hip Hop aerobics and free style dance movements, and basic exercise routines that include stretching and muscle toning low impact training. The Hip Hop aerobics classes are the kiddie Hip Hop, teen Hip Hop, and Junior Hip Hop for youth. The nutrition classes will educate about developing healthy eating habits, proper diets and how to prepare healthy snacks and meals.
In additional, educational field trips will be available to enlighten participants in the promotion of healthy living through visits to various health information centers, health education resources fairs and local park district. The youth will also participate in a kids walk tron day at Douglass park, we expect our program to make a positive impact on the mental, physical, social, and emotional development of the participants by educate the youth about how to make healthy food choices when it comes to food and show youth fun physical activities that will strength their body, while they are having fun.
