The Problem
We're trying inspire folks to consider their stance on convenience and sustainability as it relates to our global set of ecosystems. The practicality of local organic agriculture efforts over massive feedlots and spending billions of dollars on transporting produce is glaringly obvious; it's just inconvenient.
Plan of Action
I'll produce a 1/2 hour documentary film that covers the entirety of one growing season with two Colorado western slope farmers: Alison Gannett and Jason Trimm. Alison's story is an interesting one indeed: once a world-champion freeskier, she was inspired to get involved with the global climate crisis when the glaciers she enjoyed rocketing down so much were rapidly melting. Today, the couple lives in the Gunnison Valley in a quaint farm house on 75 acres and everything they eat is produced using organic methods right there on their property at Holy Terror farm.
The film will document the public speaking and non-profit business (check out these sites!: www.SaveOurSnowFoundation.org ; www.ResourceEfficiency.org ; www.LocalFarmsFirst.com)
side of what Alison does and incorporate those ideals into the day-to-day action on the farm. This being their second growing season on the property, all the kinks are far from worked out; there will be plenty of trials and conflicts for the film to focus on to be sure.
