The Problem

In 2010 fellow members of my troupe Unparagoned Models Inc. started by Taavon Bazemore will be hosting a benefits show in Baltimore MD on April 3, 2010. This show will use the proceeds raised to create care packages for homeless youth in Baltimore. As a senior in college majoring in Social Work and non Profit Leadership at Coppin State University and active in Baltimore’s own fashion industry; I was compelled to give back to the community in some type of way. After interning at a homeless shelter I learned that “there are 800 homeless youth a day and only one shelter in Baltimore that has only 4 beds, leaving approximately 796 youth homeless a day? So what can we do about it?”

Plan of Action

This benefits show will help us raise money to create at least 300 care packages filled with small necessities needed daily. Unparagoned Models mission is to not only perform, entertain and set a standard in the fashion industry but to do so by giving back to the community of Baltimore City through charity. We will be hosting an all American Runway fashion show displaying Baltimore’s local models, designers, stylish, makeup artist and all others within Baltimore’s Fashion Industry. We need all the help possible to make this happen. If this event is successful we plan on doing this show every year. We plan to raise funds to help where is needed. We picked the youth in Baltimore Because 90% of those within Baltimore’s Fashion industry are youth and may be affected by Homelessness or know someone who is.
