At the Honey Project, Improving Lives Couldn't Be Sweeter! Operated by 15 high school students (Partners), who were among the 62 that graduated from a 12-week intensive entrepreneurship training program, the Honey Project is a youth-oriented business venture. The students import organic honey from Western Africa, Agogo-Ghana, and market the product in the US with 50% of all honey revenues re-invested into Ghana as Actual Investment Dollars (A.I.D.), redefining the concept of AID. We believe that through the effective utilization of technology and e-commerce applications and teaching entrepreneurship to young aspiring students, we are able to eradicate global poverty.
Has it worked? Absolutely!
In just one quarter, the young partners raised $3000 in owner’s equity and have grossed over $4000 in honey sales. The Honey Project and youth partners presented 25% ($1,000) of it’s earnings to Chief Nana Akouko Sarpong of the Agogo Traditional area on July 20th 2007.
Our Current Efforts:
The Honey Project is gaining momentum as the global community is quickly learning the impact of our project! We have kicked off the Honey Project 2015 Campaign in support of the UN Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) of eradicating poverty by 2015. From the 8 MDGs, we currently meet 3 out of the 8 goals and we are confident we will be able to successfully meet all 8 goals by 2015!
