The Problem
By creating a teen volunteer program at the local Hospice I hoped to spread awareness of the importance of helping those in need to high school students. I believed that interacting with people would greatly benefit the terminally ill patients of the Hospice, which proved to be correct. Through this I not only hoped to help the terminally ill go through the course of their illness but also encourage teens to realize the value of helping others.
Plan of Action
I went to the local Hospice and presented my idea to the volunteer coordinator there and then after it was approved, we began to spread the word about it through clubs at school and other various means. Both of us felt as if it would be a great experience for many high school students and that it may greatly benefit the overall health of the patients.
