The Problem

The community we are hoping to help through this project is the teens who have to stay in the shelter for Christmas.

Plan of Action

First we had to find a shelter willing to work with us on this project. Shelter 801 was not only very cooperative, but also very thankful. After that we put up a christmas tree with gift tags for all of the residents at the shelter. On the back of the tags were a gift that that person was hoping for. After everybody had brought their gifts in, we took them to the shelter.

Project Updates

The Friday before Christmas was our last day of school. We brought our tree up to the activity room along with all the wrapped gifts we had collected from the POCS community. Everybody at the Luncheon got to see the outcome of their combined efforts. It was great how many people ended up helping out. We ended up with 86 gifts for the five people at the shelter.

My family and myself were lucky enough to be the ones to deliver the gifts to the shelter. We also brought oversized stockings full of decorations and stockings for all of them. It was great. They were so sweet and really thankful. It was a great experience and we can't wait to work on our next project and continue our POCS closet project.

Hope everybody had a great holiday break!

We're working with Shelter 801 in Dover, Delaware. The residents are older than we expected, but we're still planning to give them a great Christmas. We put up our Christmas tree in school and put tags with gifts that the residents at the shelter have asked for. We've already got a lot of people taking the tags. As for the resident's Christmas tree, they already have one, but they don't have decorations. We've purchased those as well as stockings for all of the residents.
