The Problem

This is a small-town no-kill humane society who is constantly over loaded with animals. It's hard to get donations and funding is always very low. Recently, we organized an adopt-a-thon in hopes we could get some of the shelter's animals off their hands. Unfortunately, the have a 2 month long waiting list. But we found homes for 7 dogs and 3 cats that day. It may not seem like a lot, but to a small-town shelter like us... that's HUGE.

Plan of Action

In hopes that I could gain the shelter more publication - and through that, extra funding - I created the shelter's Facebook page. (facebook.com/stjameshumanesociety) Since it's creation in December, we have reached a fan base of around 1,100 members. The shelter's funding has increased a little bit, and we are gaining the interest of the youth (and adults) in my community. I have since been put in charge of fundraising events for my shelter, and have many plans for special events and socialization's to come in the near future. I'm very excited to be a part of this team.
