The Problem

I went to Fiji last summer, which is a country with a lot of health issues. Most of the villages don't have flushing toilet systems. So, with a group called AYS, we went to a village called Vunibau and built toilets and installed plumbing for families in the village.

Why It's Important

It's important to me because it was important to them. They were so happy that we could come and help them out with this growing problem that they had. It really made a difference to the village that we did this for them. Even though we came there to help them, they ended up helping us a lot more in other ways. We learned so much from the humble people of Fiji and it really made an impact on everyone.

The Plan Of Action

Well first I signed up last summer with a group called AYS. We planned to go to Fiji for about two and a half weeks and build toilets for a very poor village. We planned on building four toilets for the village, but instead we were able to order more supplies and make nine total toilets! It was amazing the people were so grateful for the help we gave them.

How Can Others Get Involved?

Well, I plan on going on another AYS expedition this summer to Belize. We will be building and addition onto an Elementary School. I could always use help with finding money to do this.

Awesome job! We would love to see more pictures- it looks like you really made a huge difference in Fiji. You should think about applying for a Do Something Grant! Here's the link: http://www.dosomething.org/grants. Best of luck!!
