The Problem

We helped the community of Biloxi, Mississippi recover from Hurricane Katrina damage. You would be surprised to see that many parts of the town are still in ruins. It looks as if the hurricane hit yesterday. Most people think that five years later this problem would have been solved, but the recovery is far from over.

Plan of Action

This past year our job was to demolish a wash-house so that the adults in the organization with which we partnered could use the land to build other things. Although we were doing the dirty work of clearing the land and cleaning up the debris, we still made an impact. We made it possible for the workers in Biloxi to build on that land after we flew home from Mississippi. Every year we speed up the process of Katrina relief. Even though it’s just by a small amount, every little bit helps.
