The Problem

Our group works alongside the Kitovu Mobile AIDS Organization in Kyanamukaaka, Uganda. Kyanamukaaka is a rural sub-county located 40 kilometers from Masaka, Uganda. Our current project revolves around health and sanitation, in teaching community leaders about safe water practices, such as boiling water and using drying racks. These community leaders then go on to teach larger self help groups about the importance of safe water. The next phase of our project is to help with the construction of items that can be used to improve hygiene and sanitation, including pit latrines and tippy-taps.

Plan of Action

GlobeMed is a student led non-profit organization on campus which partners with grassroots organizations around the world to improve the health of the impoverished. We are students with an interest in leading the fight in global health inequity and social justice. We are part of a vast network called GlobeMed, which has 33 chapters nationwide. On campus we fund effective projects to help our partner achieve their mission, organize on-campus events to educate students and host health campaigns. We are currently partnering with Kitovu Mobile, a mobile AIDS clinic in Uganda where we've implemented a Sanitation and Hygiene project. We have finished funding the first phase of our $5,000 hygiene and sanitation project and are now working to raise $10,000 for Phase 2.
