The Problem

Trying to solve the effects of racism per media empowerment. The, "I Can See You Well TV," media arts after school program is an upstart. The program introduces children to the field of Communication. I developed the program as a simple hobby for my children & their friends around 1995. I then piloted the program successfully at The Boys & Girls Club of Monmouth County for one year per a mini grant (Asbury Park Community Collaborative a grantee of the Department of Prevention of Child Abuse and Community Partnership (2005-2006) in addition to The Westside Community Center, Asbury Park, NJ, for one year via an Experiential Learning Federal Grant (2007-2008). I was able to test the waters to see if the program would be successful in an urban setting. The pilots were successful! I had the pleasure of working with up to 100 children from the immediate Westside Asbury Park & Midtown Neptune area. The program will be a non-profit entrepreneurial effort. I will develop a product line and services that will be cost effective. The children will not only learn media skills but also business skills. Per my years with the Asbury Park Community Collaborative, I was afforded colloquium, round table discussions on how to develop a non-profit that could have the potential of being commercial. "I Can See You Well TV," possess the potential to be that successful self sustaining project. Per my training at Kean & Monmouth University I developed a non-profit after school program that: • Introduces children to the world of Media & Communication • Empowers children with leadership skills & art appreciation • Develop team work and promotes diversity • Enveloped in a atmosphere of creativity with arts in a non over bearing adult environment By providing free, interesting, creative, after school program that will address the affects, and effects, of racism in our over crowded and somewhat segregated, urban areas.
