I will be building a pinic table for a low income minority non profit youth center
the problem:
Our major belief at Osceola McCarty Youth Development Center is that the youth of today are our tomorrow’s future, therefore, the ultimate goal is the growth and development of productive and responsible citizens.
Our “target group” of youth is not only at risk youth, but youth who are from single family homes, grandparent homes and low income families who need assistance to provide nurturing family values in a creative type learning environment.
Our programs includes after school services to include tutoring,mentoring, monthly activities and summer program. Forrest County alone has a high number of children living in impoverished environments.
Eighty-eight (88%) of elementary aged children qualify for free and reduced lunch, which is another indicator of the high numbers of children living in impoverished environments.

2why it's important:
I am planning to build a picnic table for thier playground. As of right now they only have a few items in their playground. By building this picnic table, they will be able to sit outside and have lessons on the enviroment.
I want them to understand that no matter where or how you live that one person can make a difference in others lives.

how you can get involved:
Hopefully it will teach the children to stay outdoors more and learn about the world around them. I hope it teaches them no matter where you come from, we can all come together in the end and be one big world.
